Jimmy Berkery

Died, aged 21, worked on the CRB road gangs. In 1951, he died in a motorbike accident near Warracknabeal. He had no family in Australia, a family he had befriended while working here, brought him back to Gisborne, and he was buried here. Fifty years later Irish relatives now living in Australia had the plaque erected on his grave.
