Have Your Say – Colac Memorial Park

Our survey on the Future of Memorial Park is now closed.

Geelong Cemeteries Trust is developing a master plan for Colac Memorial Park (CMP). The master plan will guide the future development and management of the memorial park, ensuring it meets the needs and expectations of the community, respects the heritage and cultural values of the site, and enhances the natural environment.

To assist in developing the master plan, a survey has been made available for our communities to have their say. This survey will open on Friday 31 May and close on Friday 28 June at 12:00 noon.

Below, you will find more information about CMP, as well as access to the survey through the orange button.

About Colac Memorial Park

CMP is located at the former Colanda Residential Care facility at 120 Forest Street, Colac East. In 2022, the 35-hectare Crown Land site was reserved for cemetery purposes, with rezoning still to occur. The location retains its internal road and most of the trees, creating a beautiful park environment.

The location has the potential to accommodate approximately 100,000 graves, servicing the burial needs of the Colac Otway community for generations to come.

Development of the location will occur in stages, as required. There is a portion of steep, flood-prone land along Barongarook Creek which has been proposed to be revegetated, as it is unsuitable for cemetery use.
