Colac Memorial Park was taken into the care of Geelong Cemeteries Trust in 2022, with the purpose of providing another cemetery for the growing suburbs within Colac Otway & surrounding suburbs.

Our history
Colanda is a significant part of the history of Colac. This location was previously the Colanda Centre; a residential institution opened in 1968 to provide care and support for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Colanda was established as a response to the prevailing attitudes and practices regarding disability at the time. The institution that aimed to provide care and support for people with disabilities.
Societal attitudes toward disability began to shift in the late 20th century, and this along with changes in government led to its closure in 1998.
