Our history
Geelong Memorial Park was opened by the Minister for Health in 1988 and the first service took place in its chapel a few weeks later. The number of families using this facility represented another change in funeral services in the last century.
Cremation and the return of the deceased’s ashes to a relative was first introduced to Victoria in 1905 but the uptake of this service was very slow.
