Our history

The Birregurra or Whoorel Cemetery came into existence in December 1868. The Trust seldom provided reports about its activities. The local press provides a few glimpses of daily life and death which suggest that the Birregurra Cemetery Trust faced the same fate as most other Trusts; poor fences, roaming stock and weeds, even though Birregurra had a population of five hundred and was one of the largest townships in the district.
