Our history

In 1877 local residents and the Shire of Winchelsea petitioned the government for land for a cemetery. The Trust enjoyed an uncomplicated life and when, in the mid-1880s, the Shire offered to assume management of the cemetery, the Trust declined the offer.

In 1893 the land allocated to the cemetery was extended. In 1922 a shortage of trustees meant that J T Anderson was the chairman, secretary and treasurer of the Lorne Cemetery Trust.
