The Geelong Western Cemetery is steeped in history, being the final resting place of a number of Geelong’s pioneers.
With towering Cypress trees lining the centre drive, it is a charming setting offering quiet reflection for those who visit.
While the cemetery is mostly full, there are a number of cremation memorial options available.

Our history
The cemetery was originally established to service the burial needs of those living in the western part of Geelong, as well as the outlying areas of Fyansford and Batesford.
It was known under various names during its history, including New Cemetery, New General Cemetery, Herne Hill Cemetery and Newtown Cemetery.
